My bench blew the fk up
and I was 2 months ahead of schedule

6 month blueprint to hit 2 plates

Goal is to increase 5lbs every 3 weeks, slow and steady.

With my current 1 rep max of 185lbs,

According to the calculations of the blueprint,

I started the first session with 150lbs for 5 reps,

And across 24 weeks, the target was to build up to 180lbs for 5 reps, RPE 7.

If I could do that, theoretically, I could get 225lbs on a good day.

I was totally not used to such a boring style of training,

No going to failure, no 1 rep maxes each session, nothing.

But the science said it was the most optimal, so I stuck with it.

My bench absolutely EXPLODED

There was nothing fancy about the blueprint whatsoever,

But somehow, the exact same weight I did last week,

It just felt lighter today.

Day after day, it felt lighter and lighter.

Instead of increasing 5lbs every 3 weeks,

I was adding it every 2 weeks, 1 week ahead of schedule.

That feeling was fking AMAZING bro

I fking love it when the bar just feels like a FEATHER each and every session,

Every 2 weeks, adding 5lbs, and the bar STILL moved like a feather

It felt like newbie gains all over again.

In a blink of an eye, 185lbs, the 1 blue and 1 green that has been haunting me for 2 years,

I was about to load it up for my working set.

Not gonna lie, I was lowkey nervous as I was loading it,

It was just the PTSD of failing this weight again and again.

Took a huge breath, got under the bar, and I just said fk it, LETS GOO

5 reps, piece of cake. Yet again, moved like a feather.

Around 4 months ago I was struggling to get it for 1 rep bro

I had just DESTROYED 185lbs for 5.

Holy shit that felt like I was in a different body,

Like is this even my body??

How am I able to bench so much so easily??

After 4 months of diligently following the blueprint, and 2 months ahead of schedule,

It was finally time to attempt the big 2 plates.

November 2023, The day of the PR

It was 5pm, the gym was full af

I brought 6 of my boys to the gym with me to witness this once in a lifetime event

In the gym that day, were 4 mfs haters that never believed in me

They wanted to watch too, and it was the day that I was about to finally, FINALLY shut them up.

After warmup, I was carrying the last 45lb plate, walking over to the bench.

All 10 dudes crowded around that one bench,

Soon after, 10 more random dudes came over to see wtf was going on,

Proceeded to watch as well.

When I heard the final “Pingg” as I loaded the last 45lb plate,

I took a step back and admired the four plates of 45lb flushed together,

That was the most daunting bench I have seen in my life.

If I failed, the whole gym was going to watch me fail.

I better not fk it up

I got under the bar, placed my palms at the optimal width,

20+ people shouting all around me.

All I heard was an echo of
LIGHTWEIGHT! LETS GO! 225!

I unracked the bar, lowered it, and when it made the slightest contact with my chest,

I closed my eyes, And I pushed it up like my life depended on it.

Before I knew it, the bar was back up at the top,

and I was about to rack the bar back onto the bench.

And the whole gym EXPLODED into cheer.

All I heard was a mix of “WOAHHH” and frantic clapping from all directions.

It felt like I won the Olympics

The following 10 mins was filled with fist bumps from left and right.

This is what life is about.

This is the feeling that every gymbro gotta experience at least once in your life.

For once in your life, you become the main character,

As you proceed to CRUSH the biggest milestone of the gym, 2 plates.

Today will be a memory I will look back 50 years from now.

After the PR, I decided I was not going to complete my workout.

I was in the gym that day for a total of 20 mins.

10 mins of warmup, benched 1 rep, fist bumped everyone for 10 mins,

and then left the gym alone to collect my thoughts.

Progress was CRAZY at first,
But then I got stuck

Went straight home, sat down at my desk filled of physics scribbles, and it hit me.

Ive done it.

The 2 weeks straight staying up till 5am researching finally paid off.

I looked at the title “Road to 2 plates” in front of me,

2 weeks of crafting, 4 months of execution,

It felt like I had built a deep connection to this blueprint,

After all it was the one thing that finally got me my lifelong dream.

Is this the end?

After hitting 2 plates I admit, I reduced my weekly gym sessions, focused on other aspects of life.

But did I stop at 225lbs? fk no.

A weight I once thought was so far out of reach,

I now bench 225lbs for reps. It’s been 3 years since I first crafted that blueprint,

And I am still using this exact blueprint, unmodified, till this day.

This was exactly what I did to hit my first 2 plates.

This blueprint, I have been gatekeeping for the past 3 years.

And after deep thought, I decided it’s time to share my knowledge with a selected few people.

I was literally in your shoes.

I thought I tried everything, I was hardstuck, and I gave up.

Turned out I just didn’t have the right protocol.

This is my secret sauce to actually boosting the bench so crazy fast,

that everyone will call it impossible, until they see you achieve it.

With my blueprint, I believe everyone, regardless of genetics,

Everyone will hit 2 plates.

I don’t want random people to utterly waste something I had put so much effort into.

Thanks for reading my origin story

The Struggle at 185lb

1 blue, 1 green, each side.

That haunted me for 2 whole years.

I went around bragging that put on 50lbs in just 3 months, and that 225lbs would be a piece of cake

But the moment I got stuck, my ego shattered

Before each session, I would hype myself up,

“Feeling STRONG today! Today is PR day!”

And I would fail miserably.

There were even days that I would fail 175lbs.

After each failure, I would spring up from the bench with absolute rage

Thinking to myself,
“Why tf is my bench worsening day after day??”

I just tried to convince myself to stay delusional,
“The next session will be the one!”

But it was just a painful loop of disappointment.

9 months went by,

It’s now May 2022.

My 1 year was up.

Still stuck at 185lbs

Those mfs took every chance they could to shame me like there was no tomorrow.

It got so bad that I was too embarrassed to show my face at the gym.

I only went to the gym during off peak hours to avoid those mfs

I tried binge watching a youtuber that benches 3 plates,

Since he is so far ahead, he will have some secrets that I don’t know.

I tried his advice, didn’t work.

Binged another youtuber for the latest science to increase my bench,

Tried it for another week, no results.

Each gym session just led to absolute disappointment.

Turned out I wasn’t an expert at all.

I just got lucky with the newbie gains.

I became a mad scientist.

July 2023, 2 years had past since my last PR of 185lbs,

2 years straight, I could not even increase my bench by 5lbs

I knew something had to change.

I refused to believe that 185lbs was my genetic limit.

There are dudes out there benching 4 plates for breakfast

There is no way I can’t even get 2 plates.

I was so determined to get out of this 2 year shithole,

That the next 2 weeks I literally became a mad scientist.

Thank God I aced physics in school, and years of studying didn’t go to waste,

I could finally apply my knowledge in the real world context.

It was time to study the forces of the bench press.

Instead of doing math homework,
I was staying up till 5am geekin out

I was calculating the torque required from my chest to lift 225lbs.

I would dig though research papers to understand the biomechanics of the human body,

Just to perfect the optimal bar path and grip width.

I would go through hundreds of pages of meta-analysis papers,

Just to find out the perfect ratio of training Intensity, Volume, Frequency

I even compared the minor things like amount of warm up sets, resting duration, straight sets vs drop sets you name it.

I became an absolute GEEK lol just to find a way out of this plateau.

I even coded a strength calculator, and a excel tracker to track my progress.
(this was before AI btw)

I was only a 19 y/o student, I am definitely no PHD holder,

But after 2 weeks of random physics scribbles all over my table,

flooding my laptop with thousands of pages of research,

I have crafted what I deemed, the most scientific, the most effective,

and the FASTEST way to increase the bench press.

I was so proud of it I even gave the blueprint its own name

“Road to 2 Plates”

It was time to put the blueprint into action.

It was time to see if my 2 weeks of geekin actually paid off,

My bench was about to sky rocket,

Or was I an actual acoustic mf the whole time.
